Weclome JT ( if you're real ) Pick-up a copy of both of Ray Franz's books if you can. Also read up on Keith Casarona's NEW BOY Bethel series here for real life experiences of what it was like to live and work at Bethel. After having done these assignments please report back what you've found and let us know if you still want to contribute time, effort and money to the WT. Best wishes in your spiritual journey.

Welcoming Our Latest JW Apologist JTrottigy
by pale.emperor ini'd like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome our newest jw apologist jtrottigy.
.
he'll likely only be here for a few days like most jw defenders before he runs away when presented with his own doctrine.. so far he's already said some hilarious stuff, like "there's no such thing as nepotism in jehovah's organisation", "confidentiality is paramount to elders" and, my personal favourite "the overlapping generation is so simple to understand".. yh don't think i don't remember you from jwtalk..

The 'IN' families
by punkofnice inone thing i don't miss about being a jobo, is those families that ruled the congregations.. i've seen how the elders protected their own using our old friend, nepotism.. eg.
the son of an elder that stole a car and was prosecuted but 'let off' because it was kept secret and all his relatives were elders in the same congregation.
it certainly went on when i was an elder but i wasn't one of the 'in' crowd.

Wild_ThingThere were so many big dynasty JW families related to each other, I am convinced there had to be inbreeding in the congregation I grew up in.
I've seen it myself in the few congregations I've been in north of Montreal. Young born in's marrying within same or close by congs. and breeding like rabbits to the extent that everyone is somehow related. It's weird and stomach churning but to them seems quite normal and happyfing.. and I'm sure the Borg is quite pleased ! Then to add insult to injury I'd get to hear the elders gush about so and so being an item and how such a wonderful young attractive couple willadorn Jehovah ! ( remember it's all about appearances and social climbers )

Swingle's use of the 'N' work is well documented. Must have read about hundreds of times.. Wouldn't it of been fun if the black kid would of gotten up and 'mashed' the potato's into Swingle's face, he cerrtainly deserved it. Kind of like dreaming of going back in time so as to go up on stage and give a nice talk peppered with apostate ideas hehe !

Do You Think Many Jehovah’s Witnesses Truly Believe?
by minimus ini did for many years even if i had doubts that i would put on the back burner.
but i thought the majority of witnesses believed, even if they were “weak” in the faith.. obviously, we have elders , pioneers and ministerial servants that are here and they are not true believers.. do you think many jws simply do not believe what they are preaching?
?.

Thing is I first got in to learn the Bible, then got loved bombed and pressured into baptism thanks to being vulnerable and somewhat naive. I never quite believed 100%, especially the GB FDS doctrine of being God's channel, the 'truth' as they say. But social pressure and wanting to please you go along with it until you can't.. I knew the org was BS when the Revelation book study came around with the inserts back in 06 or 07. By then was so worn down that it had become habit, so yes they really do that. to you. Gets to a point you don't really know what to believe other than the company line because you can no longer think critically and shut down like a zombie drone.
Funny somewhat relevant story : happened to me today I FB messaged a JW friend's wife for an update on a possible summer bike ride with her hubby only to be told that he no longer had time for that as he was busy with many responsibilities in their ever expanding fast paced congregation in South America.. I could smell the indoctrination and his life's dreams short circuited 7500 km's away. Their life it the 'Truth' and her being quite the adept social climber and suck up has managed to shoehorn her husband into the family corporation, that being the JW.borg and all the grand social benefits that go along with it. Poor guy is totally pussy whipped.. a shell of what he once was.

So I guess my old hall got dissolved. The great decrease continues....
by Darkknight757 inmy mil came by to drop some pressure on my wife to go to the three day this weekend.
she told her that she wants our baby to live forever and that she wants us to come back.
apparently people would be “so happy” to see us return to the fold.

"Drugs, depression, chronic masterbation) all keeping them from qualifying"
There's an underlying problem tight there, they need professional help but have no clue how to go about it. That and they don't want to hear it for fear of waking up to reality. They just go along and suffer, hoping the end will come soon to solve their problems exactly as I did..

JWs & "generations"
by Magnum inwe all know what a mess the jw "generation" teachings have been.
but, there is one hard and fast truth concerning jws and "generations" - that is, that many generations of jws have died without the realization of the hope they were promised.. there were many before my grandfather's time, but i'm going to start with his.
his generation, his peers, lived at a time when jwdom was exciting, bold, confident, seemingly deeper and scholarly, seemingly genuinely concerned about the preaching work and saving lives.

Good post Magnum PI I feel you. Same here 55 this summer, came in at 37 with untreated depression. Took me a decade to figure things out and get help. As for your feelings for the world's injustices I sympathise with you. Was very much the same in my mid thirties. Now I'm doing what I can to plan for retirement and am leaving bigger things to the Christ. I just to what I can to be a good person as you are. Doing lots of mountain biking and weights to stay healthy, that and diet / rest and have zero feelings of guilt for taking care or me.

So What Drastic Money Change is Next?
by OnTheWayOut inokay, they cheapened the product by getting rid of hardcover books.
they reduced printing of mags.
they drastically reduced the number of pieces of printed paper that members would "place" in people's hands in various ways, the biggest one being that they put them on a cart and don't encourage people to take them.they cut d.o.
